Greetings from the President

President Shojiro Kato

Our hospital offers BNCT, which is a cutting-edge treatment option that makes it possible to selectively irradiate cancer cells. This is a new method applicable to cancers that cannot be treated with X-ray radiotherapy, proton therapy, or heavy ion radiotherapy. In the future, with the development of boron drugs that can selectively hyperaccumulate in cancer cells more effectively, we may see BNCT become more applicable and widely accepted, much like X-ray radiotherapy. Takahiro Kato, former director of Edogawa Hospital and my beloved brother, devoted his last days to introducing BNCT to this facility. Sadly, he lost his battle to cancer at the age of 48, but his passion made it possible for us to realize his dream of offering BNCT to our patients. We aim to do our best for our patients, just as he aspired to do.
